rumour mill - INVICTUS SPECIAL
Hello, how are you? I’m Daniel Fortune, and I’m here on the eve of Invictus with all the news and rumors currently circling around the Independent Wrestling Cartel. I’m legally bound to say some of these views are my own, and not the opinions of the IWC
First up, as announced, it seems the brand split will FINALLY be announced at Invictus, though how it will be organized still seems to be unknown. One of the more interesting bits of information coming out is the fact that NewAge may cease to exist, and a new show could be about to debut after Invictus II. Also up in the air is who will be running these shows, and whether it will be Blaire of Drew, or two entirely differently people running the shows. With his retirement pending, could we see a return to the IWC in management for Shaun Cruze or indeed Johhny Kingdom? One thing is for certain; the brand split was trending on Twitter the other day, and is a nice sideline to the main event at Invictus, and possibly one of the most anticipated moments of the night
Moving onto that main event and I have to say, although I comment across the Triad, I reckon you would be hard pushed to find a main event this year that has equaled the four-way between four of the best talent in the business. Much has been made of the hometown factor for Serenity and Katelyn, and the backing of the Ginger Nation for Marie Jones. However, one thing that hasn’t been touched on is a rumor I reported not that long ago, in that Taylor Chase-Cruze was considering retiring. I’m hearing that this rumor hasn’t gone away, and Taylor is only around purely to right wrongs, and once she defends the title at Invictus is it that impossible that the announcement will be made then. Perhaps not connected, Taylor was also photographed in department store looking at baby clothes.
Hearing that the Interrogations on the four are quite explosive, and will leave the fans in no doubt what they think of the other. However, is there a possiblilty that reconciliation could occur between Katelyn and Serenity, and Serenity’s need to be in the main event isn’t to stop Katelyn from winning, but actually to help her win? Has Marie Jones stumbled on this fact, and is that the reason for her surrounding herself with family, as a means to assist her at Invictus?
Moving away from the main event, the Evolution title will also be on the line, when Andre Jordan finally gets his rematch for the Evolution title. These two have tried to be amicable as they possibly can, but I’m hearing that someone else has their eyes on that match, and ensuring that Andre claims the Evolution strap. Why they want this is unsure, but one thing is for certain, if Kloe Masters is as involved as we believe she is, Andre has quite an ally on his side. Is it also beyond the realms of possiblilty that Andre is one of the hooded men?
Talking of Kloe, her alliance with Tina Valentine is causing a predictable stir, but does their friendship mean trouble for the IWC? They are certainly two of the most controversial characters in the company, but does their alliance bode trouble for someone in the company. Much has been questioned, as to why Kloe has come back considering what happened last time, I have it on good authority that the IWC is NOT her target, and that she is only here for one purpose and one purpose alone. If this is the case, why are we seeing her seemingly amassing an army?
With Tina having no intention of competing for the QOTR title, could this fact result in her doing ANYTHING to ensure Selena Frost does not continue her tenure in the IWC. There is no doubt there is a hatred there, could Tina use this match as a mean to take Selena out for good, and could Victoria Salinas be a part of that plan? With Julia Noel and Marina Valdivia competing for the title earlier in the night, could Invictus be the night that Tina Valentine finally comes of age, and disposed of her enemies in one foul swoop.
I spoke before of the IWC looking for their next big stars; it looks like two matches have been strategically signed to find out who they truly are? The Ultimate Opportunity match sees some of the stars currently on the fringe, with a huge chance to get a shot at a major title, and IWC’s potentially world class tag teams face of as Bad Behavior face Wicked Intent. It hasn’t been advertised, but it is rumored that these talents are actually auditioning, and with any audition, their performance in these matches could see them fast tracked. Dean Daniels and Jeffery Starxxx may have been approached by Kloe of late, but it seems that rather than saying no to do the right thing, the promise of riches from the IWC could be the real reason for their refusal. As for the tag division, I’m hearing that another team is currently in negotiations, with links to Wicked Intent
However, by the flip side of that coin, and with the brand split imminent, these main event spots have to be vacated in the first place, and it seems that as rumored for a while, the biggest show on the IWC calendar could turn out to be the very last for several of its roster. Some of course are not even on the show, could it be that the IWC has called time on some of its most loved stars
One person who won’t be shown the door is William Mason, who on the back of an amazing year thus far, looks to have replaced everyone as the man ready to challenge for the World title. However, will this still ring true if he fails to beat Christian Savior, especially after everything he has said? Personally, I believe William Mason’s chance should have been given a long time ago, and it seems that the new management in the IWC agree
Over in the ULW, New Eden has started to take a stranglehold, and it seems that Invictus has been earmarked as the moment they do the same here. Two matches that could define that are Mika Kozlov against Brittany Lohan, and Aiken Frost and Alana Starr against Ethan Von Aaron and Rachel Tatum Lee. Mika has been telling anyone who will listen that this will be the last time we see Brittany Lohan in a ring, whereby Brittany has retorted with many have tried and failed. Frost is still smarting from Ethan stealing Rachel from under his nose, and has promised that Alana Starr will be more brutal than ever before as they look to destroy the happy couple. However, don’t think that this is the entire tale; because if Lukas cannot stop Aaron Harrison, there is no way that he will allow Brittany to hurt his Mika. With so many side stories, is it true what I am hearing…all of this is exactly the way Aiken Frost planned it. And by the time Invictus closes, Serenity will be the one who ultimately reaps the benefit.
I was one of the first to tell you all that Vanilla Skyy and Danny Darko were having problems, and now it seems that those problems have developed into a pure hatred. If you listen to Darko, he believes he did the best for his wife, but as far as Vanilla is concerned he crossed a line when he had her abducted, a fact that Danny denies. An interesting subplot coming out though, it seems Mya Denton may have found out only recently that Chris Davids and Vanilla Skyy were actually having an affair, when Danny thought they were happy together, and is now unsure where her loyalties should lie. Is this the true reason why Danny walked away?
Amanda Blayze has been someone who seems to have been on the periphery for so long, but it seems that is all about to change, as a change in attitude is what she believes she needs to get to the top. After seeing hashtags on social media calling her the nearly woman, she has been heard backstage saying that a message needs to be sent, and there is only one language the IWC understands. I actually spoke to Mrs Budde about this, and her reaction was a simple shrug and a smile. Honestly, I think this could be the breakout moment for Blayze as she puts to rest Mrs Budde, and strikes another hammer blow for Silas World
Talking of Silas World, Invictus is the biggest event of them all, and as always the rumor mill has been going bonkers with potential appearances. We said before that David Helms may be in the rumble at Last Stand; well I can confirm that Helms definitely spoke with IWC officials, could that have been for Invictus? Other little snippets of potential appearances I have heard are Mogui and Cassandra Mason from the Cartel NxtGen product, Clay Coulton and Kalinda from the ULW and in what would be blockbuster news, Regan Street and Xander Valentine have been muted, and may be at Pre-Invictus events.
One question I have been asked of late is what are the long term futures of Johnny Kingdom, Christian Savior and Shilo Valiant? Well, having done a lot of digging, I honestly don’t know as it seems that isn’t something that the company can answer just yet. It looks like they WANT to sign up all three; however contract negotiations have been ‘difficult’. A lot depends on if they can all win their matches it seems as the IWC won’t give long term deals unless they can prove they can still ‘go’.
Talking of contract negotiations, it seems that Scott Cannon has still to commit to the IWC for the next few years, and may be looking towards other avenues. One thing I have been hearing whispers of is a potential Cannon reunion, but where that will take place depends on Scott himself. Could Chris Cannon really ply his trade in the IWC? And would he bring Kelcey Wallace with him?
Another yet to commit her future is Jessica Wilde, who running into Invictus seems to be on a flunk now she even believes she won’t get out of. With the Sinistry gone, and her belief in New Eden apparently nonexistent, is Jessica’s time with the IWC at an end, and even if she doesn’t quit, could she be one of those shown the door.
Finally and this mostly confirmed, the IWC has cleared its schedule and suspended the Japanese tour that was to take place after Invictus. It is believed that this is due to the rumored brand split, and once all the organization takes place, a new schedule will be issued. An IWC spokesman told me that all tickets sold for each event will be honored and each event will happen on the run up to Extreme Fury, just on a different date. Not confirmed, Extreme Fury will be the first ‘new brand/NewAge’ sole PPV, and also not confirmed it is thought that ALL titles will be decided, or indeed on the line.
That is it from me ladies and gentlemen, and all that remains is for me to hope you all enjoy Invictus, and I’ll return with all the rumors on the new and improved IWC when it comes back from its short hiatus. This has been Daniel Fortune…so long.
