TAYLOR CHASE-CRUZE
INTERROGATION – TWENTY QUESTIONS INVICTUS SPECIAL
Ahead of the Huge Main Event for the World title at Invictus, we sat down with the four competitors in that match and in a short interview asked them what they were feelings before the biggest match of their lives. Each individual had the same questions, each individual made it clear how important it was for them to win this match. This is what happened when we spoke to Taylor Chase, the current World Champion
IWC: Good Morning Taylor, thank you for taking the time out of what will be a heavy training schedule with just a few days now until your World Heavyweight Title defense, how are you feeling?
Taylor: “I am feeling GREAT. For the first time in a long time I finally feel like myself again. I am in a good place in my life and mentally I am the strongest I have been in some time. I went through a period that was really tough for me, I questioned who I was and what I stood for. I hurt a lot of friends and family but that is long past me, I am myself again and damn proud of it.”
IWC: Is it right to suggest that this is the biggest match of your career?
Taylor: “Of course, it is one of the biggest matches in my career if not my biggest. One thing that I do have an advantage over the other three is the big match IWC Main Event experience, at this time last year it was Legion and just like now everyone had picked him to beat me just like now many are picking Marie Jones, Serenity and Katelyn Buehler. This is the Invictus II Main Event, I know exactly what is on the line and I plan to bring it.”
IWC: How has the training been going? Obviously Invictus is the biggest event on the IWC calendar, has your training schedule been more intense?
Taylor: “It has been better than expected. 6 days a week 3 hours a day in the gym, Yoga with Kelcey Wallace and lots of core work with Martial arts. I have expanded my training and feel I am in the best shape of my life and so ring ready. I am also working on some new moves and finishers that I will hopefully debut at Invictus.”
IWC: What’s the main reason for that?
Taylor: “I am fighting three of the very best in the IWC whether I can’t stand the bitches or not. I need to be ready for one of the biggest challenges in my career, I don’t need to be pinned to lose the World Championship so I need to be ready physically and mentally to survive something like this because all four of us will be at the top of their respective game.”
IWC: When you came to the IWC, did you ever believe that you would be in this position, headlining Invictus?
Taylor: “Not to sound cocky but yeah I did. That was my goal, if you come to the IWC or anywhere in the Triad and your goal isn’t to Main Event the big dance than you’re wasting your time. When I came to the IWC I had one goal, be the best and arguably I have been the best in this company through all the adversity and the criticism I have gone through from the old guard that was here when IWC first came back to now. I have always had my eye on one goal, to be the Main Event. Last year I was the Main Event then and I WON to the surprise of many because Legion was unstoppable, I plan to do it again with these three bitches.”
IWC: Do you think Invictus will finally bring the IWC back to a level field in the Triad, or does it still have some way to go to catch SCW?
Taylor: “I think we are already there. Yes SCW has some of the best talent in all of wrestling but I feel strong about our roster. Take our top 15 and put it up against their top 15 and I like our chances. We have evolved so much since the reopening of this promotion that we are definitely at least a VERY close second, I truly believe that. SCW is the driving force of the Triad but IWC has some of the toughest and most talented athletes in this business. We have a great mix of veterans and young blood to carry IWC for years to come and I am honored in being it’s World Champion.”
IWC: If you do leave as champion, you’ll inevitably be compared with the SCW and ULW World Champions, as well as the Cartel champion in NxtGen. How do you believe you compare, I guess what I am saying is do you believe yourself to be the best wrestler in the Triad?
Taylor: “Yes I do. If I didn’t I would be doing an injustice to IWC, its fans and myself. Kennedy Street and I are no strangers to each other, she is the SCW World Champion at the moment and rightfully so. She beat me the few times we wrestled back in 2009 even once in nine seconds but that was my fault, I was an “opportunist” then. If I fought Kennedy today I am more than confident that I would beat her, the same goes to Jason King in ULW, I respect him and his talent but do I think he can beat me? No. That’s not arrogance, it’s confidence in my abilities and the experience of big matches as a World Champion. Mogui in NxtGen as well, he is dangerous, he could kick your ass then eat you with side of cole slaw and a cold beer but I wouldn’t fear him, I fought him in the Boiler Room a few weeks back on New Age. I feel I am the top Champion in the Triad and that goes to the top contenders too like Willow Wilkes and the mouthy Kalinda in ULW, Syren, Regan, Jake Starr and even my best friend Kelcey in SCW or any of the young talent in NxtGen, I can and I will beat them all if I ever get that chance, we are the best and I am the top champion PERIOD, taking nothing away from those other champions but that’s how I feel.”
IWC: And do you think right now is a good time to be a female wrestler, women holding the biggest titles in both the IWC and SCW?
Taylor: “Absolutely. Women in this sport have come a long way just in the last four or five years. I was the first female in GAW back under the SWA Umbrella that one their Technical title as the first female to ever do that during a time when it was male dominated. We began breaking the mold then and look at us now, for a minute all the Triad’s World Champions were women. Women like Katie Steward, Syren, the Lohan’s, the Jones, the Chases and the Streets have really cemented themselves and became pioneers for women in this business, it was only a matter of time women like Kennedy and myself no matter what you think of her she and I went through a lot of sexist shit in our time survived and now are World Champions both respectfully and rightfully so.”
IWC: IF, you had to name the biggest threat to you becoming the world champion at Invictus, who would you say that is?
Taylor: “That’s a tough question because I have taken the best from all three ladies in the past. Marie has dropped me on numerous occasions so has Serenity and definitely Katelyn and after wrestling all three, they ALL are a threat to the Championship in their own unique way. Marie has Silas Mason and the World to back her up. Serenity has New Eden and “The Dark” assisting her which makes her extremely unpredictable. Katelyn has Dan Douglas and his little pendant of hypnotism along with his knowledge which gives her an added layer. Looking at all three I guess I would give the edge to Katelyn Buehler.”
IWC: Why is that, why her over all the others?
Taylor: “Well, here’s why. Marie wants it for glory, Serenity wants it for bragging and Katelyn though wants it to fulfill a predetermined destiny she has, a hunger much like I had when I came to the IWC. I have wrestled Katelyn and she gave me her absolute best and on separate occasions she almost beat me, she won Last Stand and the last piece of the puzzle is Invictus…..it’s a damn shame that that puzzle will never be complete. They are all threats but Katelyn is the one to keep your eye on the most for many reasons as she will do anything to be the best……anything and I know firsthand because she betrayed me.”
IWC: If you do stay as champion, what will it mean to you?
Taylor: “Everything. I know what it takes to be Champion and I know how it feels to lose it. When Mika beat me for it there was this emptiness. Beating Ba’al for the title was like no other feeling, I can’t really describe it and unfortunately for my three opponents they will not experience that sensation as long as I hold this belt. I worked hard to get it back, it was a mistake I lost it in the first place, I wasn’t myself but it’s mine again and being the representative to this company means the world to me. I earned this spot, I intend to keep it.
IWC: And what type of champion will you try to be?
Taylor: “A fighting champion, an honorable champion and someone that will stand up and represent IWC. There are way too many posers, fakes and ignorant people in IWC looking to get in business for themselves, my opponents fall in that line but I won’t. I have dealt with criticism and hatred my entire career but I won’t let that compromise who I am. After being with Silas World I have learned to appreciate the little moments and being Champion is one of my greatest accomplishments and stand proud fending off all challengers that think they can beat me.”
IWC: There is no doubt that this main event has a lot of side stories, and each lady had had issues with the other. What kind of match do you think we are going to see, a wrestling classic or an all-out brawl?
Taylor: “A fucking war. I will tell you this, wrestling? Sure you will see wrestling but I Damn well promise you that we are going to try each other apart in my hometown, the Staples Center is the battleground. We are to try and kill each other, I know that I am looking to crack three skulls because I have issues with all three of those bitches for what they have done to me in the last year. Each one of them, one by one will fall to me and whether it’s through fighting or wrestling it doesn’t matter….I’m can do it like the best of them.”
IWC: And do you think that will suit you? In fact, is that the way you will be looking to make the match?
Taylor: “I will adapt because I can beat you wrestling or fighting so I really don’t care how the match turns, truth be told I’m going there to fight, I’m going there to lay out three bitches and walk away with my gold.
IWC: If, for whatever reason, this isn’t your night and you don’t walk away the world champion, what will be next for you?
Taylor: “I don’t talk like that. I’ll cross that bridge IF it comes but I’m not planning on losing.”
IWC: And what will you do to achieve that?
Taylor: “Like I said, I’m not going to answer a question that is hypothetically speaking and I don’t believe will happen but one thing is for certain I will do what I have always done, fight back to the top.”
IWC: OK, nearly done…we do this in Interrogation, give me your thoughts on Marie Jones?
Taylor: “A pedigree from the famous Jones family. Her mother is a legend but Marie is an opportunist. First time I wrestled her she used a distraction to almost beat me and then had Silas give her my knee brace to knock me out after I beat Ba’al the following Riot and make her “claim” at the World Championship. Honestly, it’s a hard selling point to me why she is in this match, Vanilla brought up a good point, Katelyn didn’t eliminate her but you know what? I’m glad she is. Do you think I forgot what that bitch has done to me? Oh fuck no I remember and THAT is coming back to her tenfold at Invictus II just like I wiped the mat with Silas at the last New Age. Marie is a great and talented wrestler, we all know this, her family is a legacy but she has shown in the past against great competitors like Vanilla Skyy and others that she needs help to win and I will exploit that, her mother she isn’t who I respect a ton, Marie? Not so much and I will shove that Ginger Nation up her pale freckled ass.”
IWC: Katelyn Buehler?
Taylor: ”I wish I could call her a friend but I can’t. She’s a traitorous bitch, like Marie she knocked me out with her elbow in that ten person tag, did it again when I was fighting Ba’al all because she wanted to be World Champion and used a manipulating situation to blame like Silas which to me is a copout and fucking lazy, yes Katelyn is lazy. Katelyn is so desperate to become World Champion she doesn’t trust in her abilities, instead uses her kids as an excuse for the shortcuts and skullduggery she does. I’d respect her more if she would just admit she’s a snake instead of constantly denying it and cheating people like Vanilla Skyy and Chris Davids out of Last Stand. Great wrestler, most improved in IWC over the last few years but doesn’t “get it”. She’s already sold her soul to the devil for a World Title, to bad she won’t get a refund.”
IWC: Abigail Lindsay?
Taylor: “That would be Serenity now because the bitch can’t make up her mind what she wants to be on a weekly basis, I guess going “rogue” went over about as well as Crystal Pepsi. She’s a sneaky bitch and here AGAIN the third one that has knocked me out and this time with a baseball bat and basically set me up to lose to Mika the World Championship at Last Stand. She is going to pay dearly for that but for her she has accepted the Dark, she has become one with New Eden and she’s dangerous but Serenity is also weak, not physically, mentally when she thinks she is strong she’s just become a follower because a leader she failed at miserably. Her emotions, the Dark and the pressure will get to her. In the ring she is one of the best no doubting that but she will never rely on her talent alone and that will cost her, mark my words, she isn’t as coy and smart as she leads everyone to believe and you will see that when she leaves empty handed at Invictus II.”
IWC: And finally to close up…any final words ahead of Invictus for the fans?
Taylor: “I let you down leading up to Last Stand and I promise you that I will never do that again. I became weak, I let myself fall prey to my enemies, to the “Dark” and allowed it to manipulate me. If it wasn’t for Tombstone and especially Sundown, Goddard and Rachel Tatum Lee I don’t know where I would be right now, probably dead and you will soon see what I mean by that. The touching thing for me was so many of you stuck with me when you didn’t have to and I will never forget that. Thank you so much and I will repay you by retaining the World Championship because in my hometown I won’t lose. I’m free from everything that made me go a bit crazy and not myself….that is in the past and I will look to defend my belt successfully for you. This isn’t where the story ends, oh no this is a new chapter and where the fun truly begins going into the future as your World Champion and That is a True Story.”
IWC: Thank you…and we wish you good luck at Invictus II
Taylor: “Thank you so much and stay tuned because my third title reign is only going to get better, I’m not going anywhere, so get used to it. I hope you three bitches are ready to commit murder and even that is not enough to pry this belt out of my dead hands. The IWC Champion is here to stay.”
