INTERROGATION – TWENTY QUESTIONS INVICTUS SPECIAL
Ahead of the Huge Main Event for the World title at Invictus, we sat down with the four competitors in that match and in a short interview asked them what they were feelings before the biggest match of their lives. Each individual had the same questions, each individual made it clear how important it was for them to win this match. This is what happened when we spoke to Marie Jones
IWC: Good Morning Marie, thank you for taking the time out of what will be a heavy training schedule with just a few days now until your chance at the World Heavyweight Title, how are you feeling?
Marie: Considering I was screwed out of the IWC World Tag Team Titles by my stupid baboon of a partner? I'm doing fine, I'm doing great because I am focusing not on the negative but on the positive. I am focusing on keeping my mind in the right place mentally and that's on the world heavyweight championship.
IWC: Is it right to suggest that this is the biggest match of your career?
Marie: I have won five world championships in my time but to compete for the IWC World Championship on THE grandest stage of them all in THE main event does make it something special, it makes this match a little bit more important than anything else I have had the opportunity to compete in during my career.
IWC: How has the training been going? Obviously Invictus is the biggest event on the IWC calendar, has your training schedule been more intense?
Marie: Yes, I am definitely taking things up a notch where my training is concerned. I already have God-given natural ability but as everyone knows, natural ability alone isn't enough. Lucky for me I have the best wrestling mind on the planet in my corner, that being my mother Angelica Jones. Angelica is helping me with my training and preparation. Of course my half-sister Kimberly Williams is back and she's contributing as well to my preparation.
IWC: What’s the main reason for that?
Marie: No one knows this business quite like my mother, AND she has been involved with all sorts of situations in her career. A four way situation is nothing new to her, so her wisdom is invaluable. As for Kimberly, she is helping me to become more sadistic. The fact that Buehler has brought in idiots like Dan Douglas and Destiny is proof positive that she is willing to do ANYTHING to win. I know from firsthand experience what Serenity is capable of. And as much as I dislike her, there is no questioning what Taylor Chase is capable of when the championship is on the line. I have to take my game to a new level...or as Kimberly puts it, I have to take it a whole new low. And that is her purpose. That is what she is helping me to do.
IWC: When you came to the IWC, did you ever believe that you would be in this position, headlining Invictus?
Marie: Absolutely. I came here to be the main event star, the headliner. I came here to make IWC my playground. There was never a doubt in my mind that I would one day be in this position.
IWC: Do you think Invictus will finally bring the IWC back to a level field in the Triad, or does it still have some way to go to catch SCW?
Marie: The main event of Invictus II will be the singular event that not just puts on a level playing field with SCW but will catapult IWC to the top spot. You have four of the best female athletes in our game and of those four you have the VERY best female athlete right now walking God's green earth in the form of "The Phoenix" Marie Annabelle Jones. I dare you to find equivalent talent in one ring in one match elsewhere in The Triad, because you won't. IWC is the cream of the crop and we will prove it at Invictus II.
IWC: If you do become champion, you’ll inevitably be compared with the SCW and ULW World Champions, as well as the Cartel champion in NxtGen. How do you believe you compare, I guess what I am saying is do you believe yourself to be the best wrestler in the Triad?
Marie: I believe I already answered that question. Yes, I am the best. People love to call themselves "the future of the industry" and I believe my mother even used that term to describe me on social media last week. But I think that's an overused term. I am not the future...I am the present. I am the here and the now. When you look at me, you are looking at currently the best to lace up a pair of wrestling boots.
IWC: And do you think right now is a good time to be a female wrestler, women holding the biggest titles in both the IWC and SCW?
Marie: Women hold almost EVERY championship in IWC and SCW combined. Almost. So yes, to answer your question it IS a good time to be a female wrestler. Women rule.
IWC: IF, you had to name the biggest threat to you becoming the world champion at Invictus, who would you say that is?
Marie: Taylor Chase.
IWC: Why is that, why her over all the others?
Marie: Process of elimination for starters. Buehler is a threat to the buffet line, not the championship. As for Serenity, I have fought her enough times to know how to beat her, plus I have a secret weapon of knowledge named Kimberly Williams who can help me out with her as well. That leaves Taylor, who has proven herself time and time again to be able to rise up against insurmountable odds. Plus to be the champion you have to BEAT the champion. Taylor is clearly the biggest threat. But I'm ready to bring her down.
IWC: If you do become champion, what will it mean to you?
Marie: It will be the greatest accomplishment of my career.
IWC: And what type of champion will you try to be?
Marie: A dominant champion, a WINNING champion.
IWC: There is no doubt that this main event has a lot of side stories, and each lady had had issues with the other. What kind of match do you think we are going to see, a wrestling classic or an all-out brawl?
Marie: No one likes anyone else. We all want to destroy each other. Is there any doubt that this will be a brawl? That's why I have Kimberly in my corner, to prepare me for the inevitable war.
IWC: And do you think that will suit you? In fact, is that the way you will be looking to make the match?
Marie: I'm going in prepared for anything. Kimberly is getting me ready for a war, my mother is going to have me ready for straight wrestling. No matter what is thrown at me, I will be ready. Bet on it.
IWC: If, for whatever reason, this isn’t your night and you don’t walk away the world champion, what will be next for you?
Marie: My focus is and always will be on the top prize. Nothing changes.
IWC: And what will you do to achieve that?
Marie: Anything.
IWC: OK, nearly done…we do this in Interrogation, give me your thoughts on Abigail Lindsay
Marie: I respect her.
IWC: Katelyn Buehler?
Marie: Who?
IWC: The current World Champion Taylor Chase?
Marie: She currently lays claim to being the best. No arguing that point when she has the world title. In order to prove I'm the best, I have to take the title from her.
IWC: And finally to close up…any final words ahead of Invictus for the fans?
Marie: For the fans, they need to get used to seeing me at the top of the mountain. They need to get used to seeing me as the world champion. There is no force in heaven or on earth that can stop me at Invictus II.
IWC: Thank you…and we wish you good luck at Invictus II
Marie: Whatever.
