IWC CONFIDENTIAL 12th march 2015
Good morning I’m Alan Lamont and welcome to a new edition of Confidential, your place to find the latest news and reports from the Independent Wrestling Cartel. In this revamped column, we will look to bring you the inside track on all the stories affecting the company at the moment, and hopefully on a more regular basis that the previous version. So, where do we begin?
INVICTUS ON THE HORIZON
There is no doubt that Last Stand II was an amazing event, and really set the standard for the rest of 2015. Of course, we now know that Mika Kozlov became the new IWC World Champion, AND THAT Katelyn Buehler won the Rumble match, which guaranteed her the main event at the biggest event on the IWC calendar…or so we thought.
It is our belief that many meetings have been taking place, and several opinions have been voiced that the ending to Last Stand wasn’t ideal, and that there were too many controversial endings, and that ultimately the Invictus main event wasn’t BIG enough. Many people believed that Abigail Lindsay and Marie Jones have valid arguments in their claims that they should have won the Rumble. No doubt Taylor Chase-Cruze was not ‘mentally’ able to defend the title to the best of her abilities.
With all this in mind, it is our belief that plans are afoot to rectify those controversies, and that the show before Invictus, the main event for that huge event could be changed. It is thought that a rematch between Taylor and Mika could be on the cards, the winner going to Invictus as the champion, and that Abigail, Marie and Katelyn will all get their chance to show that they are the true number one contender.
As a side point to this however, it has to be made clear that these decisions were made at boardroom level, and as far as we are aware, Orlando was only consulted in an ‘advisory’ role due to his imminent departure, and also of course Taylor being his wife. Was this a decision made by the new owner of IWC, we are unsure, but we will try and find out this information in time for our next edition.
AN OMINOUS RETURN
There were many surprises at Last Stand, and historically the match sees a few returning faces. However, quite possibly the biggest surprise of the night was the return of none other than the former head honcho of the IWC Dan Douglas, who was revealed as the agent for Katelyn Buehler. Now, people must remember Mr Douglas, but it has to be said that Dan was nothing if he wasn’t a manipulative and very intelligent person, who made a point of making the life of anyone who crossed him, a misery.
That said, at the moment Dan seems nothing more than an agent to Katelyn, however is his future plan far more reaching than that, and has his arrival in the company got anything to do with what seems like a long delay in signing the company over to Sebastian Blake. Could it be that somewhere, in a contract long forgotten about, Dan has some kind of claim to the IWC? If he does, there is little doubt that New Eden would be the least of the IWC’s worries, and if he is truly back, does this mean a return for none other than perhaps the man who benefited most from Dan’s tenure…none other than Christian Savior? Confidential will be keeping a close eye on this.
IS IT ALL OVER – TRUE STORY?
If you have been following Twitter of late, you will have seen the mysterious messages of the men calling themselves Sundown and Goddard, and mixed with the disappearance of Taylor Chase-Cruze it has undoubtedly gotten the fans, and indeed Orlando worried for her wellbeing. Now, it seems that these people are ‘friends’ of Taylor, and that they are trying to help, but with ‘emotional scars’ being mentioned, and time known to be critical, could it be that Taylor Chase-Cruze is now finished as a professional wrestler, and that she will never be seen in a wrestling ring again?
Now, before we get a million and one tweets telling us we are wrong, is it that unbelievable to suggest such a thing? There is probably no one in the company that has suffered as much as Taylor, and yet she has always come back. Could losing the title to her sister and what seems like a breakdown, be the rod that finally broke the camel’s back? Taylor has a loving husband, and a family unit that is now stronger than ever. Will she come to the decision that it simply isn’t worth it anymore, and once better, announce her retirement?
HOTTING UP
It seems that around the wrestling industry, tag teams have gone out of fashion, and many division are struggling to find THAT team that can carry their divisions forwards. Over the past few months, it has been shown that the IWC has no such problems, and with the tag titles changing hands at Last Stand, it seems that the company has high hopes for Invictus, and pushing the Tag Team titles through the stratosphere.
Many people thought that when Silas got his hands on the titles, it would mean the end for the Good Villains, as it was a common thought process that the only thing holding them together was the Gold. But since losing those titles, I think it’s with little doubt that I can say, Scott and Alana seem even stronger, and adamant that they will once again claim the titles they believe were stolen from them
Add into that mix Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Bad Behavior, Prestige, Pain and Pleasure who all believe that they have a claim, and then then ongoing threat of Psychomachia who seem destined to hold the Tag Team Gold, there is little doubt that the division is as strong as it has ever been. And we have not even mentioned New Eden who now they have the World title, will surely be looking for more honors. Also, we are hearing that Ethan Von Aaron may looking to tag with Rachel Tatum Lee, a fact that if true would immediately propel them into the picture. And news just before we went on the air…is Chase Global about to get back in the game?
With all this in mind, it seems that the board has signed off on a huge tag team match at Invictus, which will be unlike anything ever seen in the industry before. A match that will include all the aforementioned teams and that will cement the IWC as the place to be for Tag Team Wrestling. How they will do this we do not know, but we are looking forward to finding out.
TRIMMING THE FAT
One thing that was also discussed in the meeting was that now the company has reestablished itself, it was now time to discuss the contracts of several of the talent in the company who at the moment are deemed surplus to requirements. Several names in the company have been informed of the IWC’s intention, have been told that if the opportunity arises, to seek employment elsewhere.
However, also, it has been spoken about that the company no longer wants to play second fiddle in the Triad to Supreme Championship Wrestling, and something needs to be done about people that ‘work’ in several, if not all of the Triad Companies. One such plan is to sign certain members of the roster to ‘exclusivity’ contracts, which would in essence keep them off television for any other company. The payoff for this would be an improved pay scale, and bonuses.
Our sources say that the board is not happy, and do not believe that they are getting their money’s worth from certain superstars who seem to treat the IWC as a secondary job. Certain performances have been put under the microscope and it is seen that fatigue is the primary factor. It will be very interesting to see how this pans out, and if the IWC goes through with these threats, as many high profile wrestlers would be given a choice to make
THE FUTURE STATE
In amongst all of the above, if there was one thing that was made clear, it’s that the IWC although full to the brim with talented and established wrestlers, but there is also a new breed coming through the ranks that look set to set the company on fire. It isn’t thought who out of that talent is the most highly rated, but looking at Last Stand as a barometer, it certainly looks like the company is being left in good stead by the outgoing owner Orlando Cruze.
The performances of the likes of Dean Daniels and Kat Kelly have led the company to reevaluate their stance and direction, and it is believed that these and many others who impressed look likely to be fast tracked, and put up against these established wrestlers to see how they go. This is turn will test the hunger of the likes of Danny Darko to finally make good on the potential he has promised since he signed a contract.
AND FINALLY…
It may have come a little out of the blue, but it seems that the End of Year Special that has been signed to air from Wembley Arena is something that has been on the cards for a long time. However, it is also believed that this is just the tip of the iceberg for the company and some huge news could be just around the corner
Our sources within the management structure are saying that from Wembley Arena, the IWC will commence 2016 by embarking on a massive 16+ show European tour, which will take in all the fabulous arenas around that continent. This tour will then end with Invictus III, which will come from an as yet unnamed location, though it is thought that a Roman theme is being actively sought.
With this in mind 2015 looks to already be shaping up to be a spectacular year, but 2016 is already in the mind of those that run the IWC. I’m sure this news has our growing European fan base salivating at the possiblilty of seeing Invictus air from an historic Roman Amphitheatre.
That’s it from us for now, hope you have enjoyed this edition of Confidential, and enjoy RIOT on Monday.
