iwc interrogates - tina valentine
WC: Welcome Tina, Thank you for taking the time to have a little chat
TV: No need to thank me, you know I am never going to turn down any kind of shot to speak my mind and make my voice heard.
IWC: So, you’ve been in the IWC now for the best part of a year, so far what would you say is the highlights of your career?
TV: I don’t think it’s any question what THE highlight is right? After all, I AM the Queen of the Ring champ, I won it against four other women at Reawakening Day and made history as the first ever champion, something that no hater is ever going to take away from me no matter how hard I try. That aside, I also loved Upping The Ante, when Cassidy Cage throw me off the stage, basically went batshit crazy on me, and I admit it, she gave me her best, but in the end, I beat her and finally won that long, bloody war that we had. Shit, I’ll even throw in a third one for good measure. Extreme Fury, when I cleaned Jessica Lasiewicz’s clock. That was fun, and quite frankly the first time I got to show the world what I’m really all about.
IWC: And possibly an obvious question, the low points?
TV: Pretty much most if not all of my career prior to IWC, without any need for emphasis. Also, my debut at Invictus which… I still hate talkin’ about it. I thought I was going to win that damn tables gauntlet, that I was going to walk into IWC, run it right off the bat, and then become No Holds Barred champion just like that. And then…. Karen McBride put me through a table and that was the end of that. I would call it the most humbling, yet most humiliating experience of my career. But, that’s when I knew I was in for a ride in IWC because then I knew how good the competition really is.
IWC: What made you look to the IWC as a home?
TV: It’s a pretty interesting story. One night, I was across the world in Europe wrestling for this promotion that wasn’t worth shit, you know, the minor leagues, and what I saw was one of the worst wrestling shows I had ever seen in my life. That was when I decided that I was too good to be involved with that company, so my representation went out and looked for places. Here’s where I admit that IWC wasn’t the only promotion I was looking at. Yes, SCW caught my eye, as well as other places. But the one thing that stood out to me was how the roster competed every single week. I saw that drive, that hunger, that determination that I’ve always had, that my last company never did and right away, I felt like I could fit in, even if it was gonna take a learning curve. I did narrow it down to IWC and SCW at one point, and I felt that those that wrestled in IWC “want it more” than the SCW guys. so, feeling like it was the environment for me, that’s what brought me to IWC.
IWC: I think it’s safe to say, your career really didn’t kick off until you arrived in the IWC. What is it about the company that you believe allowed you to thrive?
TV: At first, I thought I was going to come in here and just run shit. Invictus changed that, and then after that, I wasn’t so sure, so that’s when all that identity crisis stuff started happening. And this is gonna be shocking, coming from me, but after Invictus and as I was transforming from Valentina Madison to Tina Valentine,I knew that during that time, basically everyone on the roster was better than me. Knowing that, that’s when I started to push myself harder, that’s when I started to make more noise, that’s when “Tina Valentine” started coming to be and I have not relented on pushing myself. Yeah, Rookie of the Year and Queen of the Ring champ is good shit, but staying passionate and hungry is what allowed me to thrive in the first place, and what’s going to keep me thriving for a long time to come.
IWC: OK, we have a question from Declan in Ireland, who asks why do you always seem so aggressive on Twitter?
TV: Why am I always aggressive on Twitter? Declan, let me serve you a little bit of ghetto education about me, okay? Early in my career, I wasn’t aggressive enough. I was passive, I was soft, and anything you can throw at me that’s synonymous with those two words. And what happened? My career was goin’ nowhere. So, I gotta be aggressive, there’s no reason not to let up. If I let up, I’m opening the door for other people to take advantage of me and I can’t have that shit. I gotta let my peers and the masses know that I’m not taking shit from anyone, that I’m here to stay, here to slay, and ready to bring down anybody that tries to do the same to me. In my view, if you’re a passive person, you ain’t got a place in this business.
IWC: Would you say that you are a ‘standoff’ kind of person? Where the IWC has been involved in this ‘wars’ of late, you have tended to stay away from that, and stood alone?
TV: I think it’s fair to say. Up until the last Riot, I stood alone and even then, I didn’t jump in on the IWC-SIN wars because quite frankly, I know that there’s going to be a wrestling company here, whether it’s named IWC or whether it’s named SIN. I see it like this: Ba’al is the leader of SIN, Tay is the leader of IWC. Does it matter to me which of the two is champ? No, because either of them is the target if they got that world title. I’ve never looked at IWC vs. SIN as something to have a vested interest in because to me, it doesn’t matter which side has the world championship, it’s all about which name I gotta go after when the time comes to become world champ myself. So, there it is, etched in stone, why I’ve been so indifferent toward the wars.
IWC: If you did align with someone in the IWC who would it be? And why?
TV: Well, as of the last Riot, I am GOOD IN THE HOOD. So why the GOOD Movement? I’ll tell you why. The GOOD Movement isn’t your mommy’s wrestling stable, for one. Secondly, Ethan Von Aaron? The bro is a GENIUS, he’s always one step ahead of the game, just like I am and there’s no reason why I can’t respect him, because, you know, I consider myself ahead of the game too. Then you got Prii Foote, who I never had issues with and I loved the part she played in the plot to blindside and KO the shit out of Cassidy Cage in that bar a while back. We’ve gotten along since day one, and like me, she’s got a damn bright future. And yo, I can’t say a bad thing about Alana Starr, my NEW partner in crime. Like me, she don’t care about what people say about her, she goes out, dominates, does her thing and shows why she’s the X-Class Champ and for real yo, why would ANYONE pass up a shot to form a hell of a superteam with Alana Starr? I mean, our tag team name speaks for itself! GOOD in the HOOD! Simply put, the GOOD Movement knows what they want, when they want it, and they don’t stick their fingers in that IWC vs. SIN bullshit anymore. And of course, it’s never a bad thing to have backup when ya need it.
IWC: And if you had to choose, who in the company do you most admire? Either for what they have achieved or for the way they have carried themselves?
TV: As much as I admire Alana Starr, this answer is probably gonna shock the world. I’m actually gonna say Taylor Chase, I’m dead serious. See, Tay and I have more in common than one may think. She came into this company wright around the time IWC 2.0 was born and from day one she got hated on by the “old guard” of the old IWC for being different than them. She got hated on because of who her husband is. And shit, she gets hated on for being in the spot that she’s in. And yet, with all that hate weighing down on her, she STILL goes out and gets the job done. She’s taken hate since the first day she’s been here. But see, I don’t see her as an idol or an inspiration, to hell with that. I see her as a person I’m going to be at war with one day to determine not only who the best women’s wrestler in the world is, but who the best in IWC REALLY IS. She may have beaten me when we went one on one, but trust me, there will be many more battles to come between her and I.
IWC: And who do you think is lucky to be in a company of our stature?
TV: Amanda Blayze
IWC: Why is that?
TV: Because she’s been here how long now? And all she’s amounted to is being one of the many targets of Silas World? I think IWC is too much for her, but that’s just me.
IWC: OK, another viewer question, Rory from Arizona this time, why don’t you talk about your boyfriend much, and how come we never see you with him at events?
TV: I’ll mention him on Twitter now and then, but on the real, that’s my personal business. I’d describe that relationship as “bipolar”. I love him and all, but shit, he just pisses me off sometimes. It just so happens that I’m always pissed at him on event day. Case closed!
IWC: You’ve achieved so much this year, what is the end game for Tina Valentine, and what do you see yourself achieving in the next twelve months?
TV: Simply put, my end game is when I can’t do this shit anymore and that’s only going to happen with age or should I have some really devastating injury. But, I’m only 23 and got so many years ahead of me, so I ain’t worrying about the end. In the next twelve months though, it’s hard to see that far into the future because twelve months ago, if someone told me I’d be in the spot I am in right at this very moment, I’d want that idiot drug tested, because I wouldn’t buy it. What I can see happening in the next year is fme further establishing my reign as the Queen of the Ring champ! I know I ain’t gonna hold it forever, so I’m gonna make the most out of my reign to set the standard and the bar that champs after me will NEVER be able to accomplish! Furthermore, I see myself crossing over into the other divisions, taking on the likes of Andre Jordan, Gavin Taylor, William Mason, Danny Darko, Rachel Frost, just to name a few of those people and definitely being a contender for the NHB and Evolution championships down the line. But ultimately, in a year from now, I see myself being right in the thick and thin of that world title hunt and yo, laugh at it now, but don’t be surprised if I find a way to win The Last Stand in a couple f months to springboard into that picture.
IWC: With rumors doing the rounds of Orlando Cruze selling up his share of the company, does it worry you that whoever comes in won’t give you the same push?
TV: I ain’t worried about that. What’s there to worry about? I’m surrounded by a hell of a GOOD group, I ain’t got to worry about shit. I just hope the new owner, whomever he or she may be, doesn’t try to dwarf my spotlight and try to play me, for his or her sake...
IWC: You’ve recently seemed to develop an issue with the tag team champions Team Epic, what is it about them that caused you to react this way?
TV: I got so much shit I can say about Dre and Gavin, and of course, the GOOD Movement has had their issues with them for quite some time. But, that’s all I’m going to say right now, because I’d rather save my feelings on those guys for when I got to slay them in that ring personally. One thing I will say though, is that the way those two operate sickens me. They are a couple of hypocrites who can’t even get along with each OTHER, and who stab each other in the back. Why should anyone take what they say at face value? At least I’m straight up, unlike them.
IWC: Do you have any designs on the Tag Team titles?
TV: For real, when you’re in a possible superteam with Alana Star, why wouldn’t you? I’m not gonna sit here and demand the shot, but there ain’t a reason for me to turn down an opportunity for those titles because I know Alana and I can be as GOD, if not better, than any team in IWC: End Effect, Wilde and Hurse, Pain and Pleasure, Team Epic… it don’t matter, bring them all on!
IWC: Another viewer question, Caroline in England asks, do you see yourself as a role model for women all around the world? And if so why?
TV: FOR REAL? Caroline, to quote NBA great Charles Barkley, “I am not a role model”. I ain’t in this business to be a role model because all that does is steal your focus on what’s most important.
IWC: You’re the current Queen of the Ring title holder, and the females of the roster seem to have designs on this new belt. What do you say to anyone who believes they can take the belt from you?
TV: To them? I say go ahead and try me because in the end, like Amanda Blayze and Cassidy Cage have already learned, trying me will only result in heartbreak to the point where they’ll be begging for mercy that the Inner City Duchess is never going to give them.
IWC: Viewer question, from Zak in Minnesota, he asks what is the very first thing you think of when you wake up in a morning?
TV: FINALLY, a competent question. Zak, the first thing I think about when I wake up in the morning is what I’m gonna do next to progress toward being the ultimate royal of the IWC, stay on top of my game, and to make sure the haters and bitches stay in line whenever they want to try me.
IWC: Tina, why are you always so dismissive of your Valentina Madison era, and are you ashamed of that time in your life?
TV: I was ashamed of that part of my life, until recently. Shit, I even went to Kelcey Wallace’s Halloween party as “Valentina Madison”. I’m not ashamed of it anymore because I look at it as an obstacle that I had to get through in order to get to where I am today. To be real, as I’ve said a couple times, if I didn’t go through my life as “Valentina Madison”, “Tina Valentine” doesn’t exist. But that’s on the life side of things. On the wrestling side of things, my career with that name was hardly roses. It was a SHAMEFUL time in my career. All you need to do is run the tape of me crashing through that table at Invictus on repeat over and over and you’ll see why. I’m glad I ain’t a dumb blonde anymore speaking all them big words in some sad attempt to get my formerly vanilla personality over. My entire wrestling run as “Valentina Madison” was embarrassing though it had more to do with my career pre-IWC. So, that’s why I just scoff at it now. Again, obstacle to get to where I am today.
IWC: Do you think you will ever go back?
TV: I think Flash Silver has a better chance of becoming IWC World Champion than I do of ever going back.
IWC: OK, getting near the end now, I’m going to say a few people in the IWC now, give me a few thoughts on them?
TV: Alright, this’ll be fun.
IWC: William Mason?
TV: Overall, I like the guy. He speaks the truth most times and he’s got his own morals and code that he has so much faith in. I don’t like it though, when he becomes a hypocrite and uses a weapon, in direct violation of his “pure” code, and his obnoxiousness can be a little bit overbearring sometimes. But, overall, I ain’t got an issue with him. He’s doing what he’s gotta do in order to stick to his guns.
IWC: Kloe Masters?
TV: Kloe… damn… mixed bag, yo. Mixed bag. On one hand, she’s the one that truly noticed me while I was trying to catch a break in the minor leagues and she’s a good reason for me being in IWC to begin with. But on the other hand, I am far from a fan of the way she handlers herself, especially lately. I mean, if ya wanna leave, leave. But don’t be pouty and dramatic on Twitter and openly count down the time you got left, or complain like she’s been doing. She tried way too hard to be a savior, in my view. So, Kloe…. good eye for talent, can probably be a talent scout, but not a good leader.
IWC: Taylor Chase-Cruze?
TV: Having talked in length a bit earlier about her, I’ll say this. Future, bitter rival. Forget the Tay-Kate rivalry. The rivalry in IWC that people should be aware of is one that hasn’t happened yet, or well, hasn’t exploded yet, and that’s Tay-Tina. She’s a hell of a wrestler, no doubt, and I can respect her in the ring, and what she’s accomplished because yes, we’re alike in some ways, no doubt. As a person? Not as much respect there, because she’s always actin’ like a spoiled child when she doesn’t get her way, as the way she has treated Kate, Kloe, Abi and others can testify. But still, mark my words, when a true rivalry explodes, IWC’s truly in for something.
IWC: Selena Frost?
TV: I can’t REALLY judge her too much because she hasn’t wrestled her first IWC match as of now, but so far, she’s coming off as an SCW reject tryin’ to make herself famous off of my name. Well, that shit’s getting shut down one way or another, and she’s already got people like Glory Brad… er Gloria Noel… comin’ after her. Obviously, what she did to me at UTA isn’t winning her any fans.
IWC: The Sinistry?
TV: Overall, indifferent. They got a good crew, don’t get me wrong, but they’re not my problem to deal with. I know a few months ago, people were callin’ me a SIN puppet and all that, just because I happened to be there when they beat down Abi, or when I knocked her out and essentially fed her to them. But, I was never Sinistry and I never will be. I do respect Desmond Drake more than I do Karen or Kloe, even of Mya Denton has caught him with his pants down in more ways than one, but really, they ain’t my allies, they ain’t my enemies.
IWC: And finally, Silas Mason?
TV: A pretentious prick! He’s got nothin’ on Ethan, that’s for sure. He don’t even give a shit about anyone else but himself. all he wants is power and he thinks he’s got it with his presence in not just IWC, but SCW as well. The real truth is though, “strength in numbers” doesn’t apply to “Silas World”, especially now. He’s lost Kels from what I’ve heard, he’s probably gonna lose Tay and really, the day Silas World is no more is going to be a great day for professional wrestling. So really, that pretentious, misogynistic prick can burn in Hell for all I care.
IWC: Last viewer question, comes from Pierre in France. He asks, when will you and Brittany Lohan face off? That is a match that everyone wants to see
TV: There’s no telling when that’s going to happen, but if it does happen, that’s going to be some good shit, I can say that for a fact.
IWC: Thank you for answering the questions so honestly Tina
TV: The Inner City Duchess always preaches the truth, after all.
IWC: Finally before you go, do you have any final thoughts you would like to share with the IWC universe, either the roster or its fans
TV: Of course! You see, you haters may think that my Queen of the Ring championship and Rookie of the Year is something, and it’s a lot, let me tell you, but this is just the very beginning! I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, I am the future franchise of this company! What you’re seeing now is merely scratching the surface, and just the beginning of something very special goin’ on. Hate on it all ya want, but when I reach my full potential, you’re all going to wish you never doubted, mocked or hated on me. So… everyone better recognize that slice of ghetto education the master of slay just served them!
IWC: Thank you again Tina.
TV: Don’t mention it...
TV: No need to thank me, you know I am never going to turn down any kind of shot to speak my mind and make my voice heard.
IWC: So, you’ve been in the IWC now for the best part of a year, so far what would you say is the highlights of your career?
